La Vison Du Futur

La Vison Du Futur

£1,850.00

La Vision du Futur (“The Vision of the Future”) is a rare sculptural wall artwork by Gabonese artist Casimir Zinga.

Entirely handcrafted, the piece combines sculpted wood elements with rich natural textures to create a work that feels both ancestral and deeply contemporary. At its centre emerges an expressive face composed of curved and rounded forms, with prominently protruding eyes, a signature characteristic of Zinga’s artistic language.

The face smiles calmly, almost warmly… yet the wide-open eyes create something strangely unsettling. You are not quite sure what the figure is looking at, or why it smiles at it. The longer you look, the more the expression changes.

The structure of the face, including the eyebrows, under-eye details, mouth base, beard, and background, is crafted from Wengué wood, whose dual tones create the foundation and sculptural depth of the piece. The protruding eyeballs and nose are carved from intense black Ebony, creating an intense focal contrast within the expression. Around them, the lips and eye sockets are formed from Izombé wood, introducing softer brown tones and subtle warmth that balance the darker elements of the composition.

The background is finished using a mixture of brown and black wood dust, with ebony dust carefully outlining the face to intensify its sculptural relief and presence.

The result is a powerful and meditative work that explores perception, identity, memory, and futurity through material, expression, and form.

Works by Casimir Zinga remain exceptionally difficult to find outside of Gabon, making this piece a rare opportunity for collectors and design enthusiasts seeking authentic contemporary African art.

The piece is signed by the artist.
